Compression Socks--Beneficial, or Useless? You’ve known for some time that compression on your legs is helpful in minimizing the pain caused by varicose veins, but did you ever think that compression would catch on as a trend?

As more people learn about the importance of maintaining good leg health, they’re quickly jumping on the compression socks bandwagon, and seeing first-hand what little miracles compression socks are becoming.

Whether you’re running a marathon, flying overseas, or working an 8-hour shift on your feet, there are many benefits to adding light pressure to your legs. And as more athletic events continue featuring the new trend right now during athletic activity, science is also taking an interest to see how they measure up when put to the test.

While science is still debating whether compression socks actually help to increase performance, there is no doubt in the meantime about their health benefits, such as:

  • Helping to increase circulation and minimize fatigue (making for a quicker recovery).
  • Preventing lactic acid and swelling when engaging in physical activity.
  • Helping to reduce pain and symptoms of varicose veins and spider veins.

Whether you’re an avid athlete trying to recover from recent workouts or a beginner trying to get off of the couch, applying pressure to your legs with compression socks is beneficial. Especially for beginners who are not used to physical activity, the socks are a great way to help circulation while also keeping inflammation in check.

The debate is still out there as to whether or not they will help to increase your performance (will they make you run faster?), but it’s still a win-win situation as far as maintaining good leg health. Try them out and see for yourself how beneficial compression is to your workout regimen, and let us know what you think!

To sock or not to sock? We’ll let you decide…
