Clik here to view.Doing the same routines day in and day out can become tiresome and boring. When that happens, our motivation for staying healthy tends to plummet, and it can become tough to get your mind in the right place to get up and move. Just because that’s the case doesn’t mean that you have to give up. You just have to put yourself into a situation that will help motivate you to get back into the swing of things and get your legs moving again.
So, here are 5 ways to re-motivate yourself:
- Create a new challenge. If you are doing the same workouts and not getting the same exhaustive, accomplished feeling afterwards, you are likely not pushing yourself anymore. Try altering your workouts with more intensity or duration. The new challenge that comes along with a new workout regimen should push you past your comfort zone and help get you motivated again.
- Find something new. If you are normally a runner, try biking or rock climbing. If you hate running, give it a try, and learn to appreciate the multitude of activities at your disposal. Find a new class at your gym, or look online for community workouts that will keep you active. Just like pushing yourself with a harder workout, trying something new should help you stay motivated.
- Change your scenery. Oftentimes, a rut in motivation stems from the same routes or the same scenery. Try finding a new park or trail to work out in. Drive out somewhere remote and enjoy some peace and solitude to help mix things up.
- Find people. If there is one thing that really kills our motivation, it’s ourselves. Find people that like to do the same activities as you, and make yourselves accountable for each other. Having someone to meet up with helps to keep your motivation up, and the pressure of not falling behind your partner will make you work harder.
- Set a Goal. Like number 1, if you set out to accomplish something great, chances are, you’ll probably have more motivation to do it. Sign up for a summer 5k or mini-triathlon to get you back into a training regimen. Actually committing to a race should help you meet your goals.
These little tricks will help to keep your motivation up and your legs moving. Staying healthy is no easy feat. It takes determination and hard work, and that’s only going to come if you stay motivated. You’ve worked hard to get where you are, so don’t give up now. Take advantage of your health and keep going.
