Want Healthy Legs? Read On!We’ve mentioned before that varicose veins can usually be minimized (though not completely avoided) by a healthy lifestyle. While heredity normally controls when you’ll get them and how severe they will be, they can still be treated. Much of the onset of varicose veins is caused by poor circulation.

Stimulating positive circulation is fairly simple, and the best way to do it is to stay active and in shape. Good circulation minimizes the symptoms of varicose veins, and any activity like walking, running, and swimming should do the trick. When you’re rested, you can also elevate your legs to help relieve the pressure on your legs.

For those who have a family history of varicose veins, the proactive step of wearing compression socks is sometimes a good option. Compression socks control swelling and reduce the pain that’s associated with varicose veins. While you probably won’t completely rid yourself of them, you don’t have to live miserably, either.

Maintaining a healthy diet is also a key way to maintain healthy legs, managing the onset of varicose veins. Combined with regular exercise like we just mentioned, a healthy diet will greatly help with the management of the onset of varicose veins. Regular exercise and a healthy diet promote total health, and what’s more, will give the blood pumping through your body an easier time getting around.

Varicose veins are common in both men and women (though more common in women, especially during/after pregnancy), so men, you’re not out of the woods just yet. Though many men don’t realize it, they can sometimes be as vulnerable as women to varicose veins, so even men should weigh these options and maintain a healthy lifestyle (like everyone should, really).

There are many resources available to help you get fitter legs and a healthier lifestyle, and every little bit helps when it comes to your legs and your health. After all, if there’s even the slightest possibility of managing something that could leave you in pain for the rest of your life, why not take it?
